Cosmic A* is Prince’s first solo work. It combines captivating physicality with political reflection.
Prince sets out to explore ways of expressing an Arab identity that transcend prejudices and external labels. In Europe, where he now resides, his body still carries the resonances of a homeland torn between its potential and its tragedies. His body becomes an archaeological space, engaging in rituals of excavation; through a deep connection to his roots, he embarks on a journey into new worlds—and toward a completely new form of self-expression. The live music is provided by percussionist Joss Turnbull, who creates dense, contemporary soundscapes using traditional Arab instruments and electronic manipulation.
